Kelvin Wong was the main activist who spearheaded the creation of Singapore's first LGBT Buddhist organisation, Heartland and also Singapore's first LGBT sports group Adventurers Like Us (ADLUS).
Wong was an early member of People Like Us and used to hold the post of secretary in its pro-tem committee.
Wong was the first gay Singaporean to be interviewed by Time magazine, accompanied by a photograph of himself (see main article: Archive of Time magazine article, "Boys Night Out" by Jen Wei Ting, 19 March 2001 ).
