Un retrato de familia was Boo Junfeng's first short film made in 2003-2004 during a student exchange programme in Barcelona when he was 19 years of age.
It won several prestigious awards, launching the director to fame in local and international film circles, as well as making him a well known figure in Singapore's LGBT community.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]
Sergio is a 17 year-old photographer who is aroused by black-and white encyclopedia diagrams of female genitalia. When his little sister asks him about sex one day, he revisits a memory years ago, in which he discovers a sexual secret amongst his family members.
The film's surprise ending makes the viewer ponder about issues of covert LGBT sexuality.

Screenings[edit | edit source]
The short film was screened as part of the programme line-up for the inaugural Short Circuit, Singapore's first LGBT film festival held in 2006. The latter was an initiative of People Like Us headed by Alex Au and jointly curated by Boo and writer Alfian Sa'aat.
In 2008, Golden Village (Cinema Europa, GV VivoCity) screened it as part of a movie event entitled, "Against The Tide: A Screening of Boo Junfeng's Short Films *BlogAloud*:[1].
