SMUnicorn is a Student Resource Network for LGBT-affirmative students and alumnus of Singapore Management University (SMU) supported by SMU’s Diversity and Inclusion Department.

Origin of name[edit source]

Drawing parallels with “The Ugly Duckling” story SMUnicorn depicts the misunderstanding of being different in the heteronormative society, like Unicorns in a troupe of Horses.

However, put in perspective, it believes that differences between all individuals should be celebrated rather than shunned. It would like to learn from each other and see things in a multitude of perspectives.

Aims[edit source]

It helps help students and alumni:

  • Interact
  • Provide student advice
  • Organise activities to better understand LGBT topics
  • Establish professional links
  • Organize and receive invitations to LGBT-friendly corporate events

Contact[edit source]
